This Privacy Policy describes how the "Stories for Google Workspace" browser extension (the "Extension") handles your data.

1. Information We Collect

The Extension collects the following information to provide its core functionality:

• User Identity: We collect your Google Email address and Profile Name via Google OAuth. This is used solely to identify you within the "Stories" system, manage your posts, and display your stories to authorized colleagues.
• User Content: When you post a "Story," we store the text content, image/video URLs, and timestamps that you explicitly provide.

2. Use of Permissions

The Extension requires specific permissions to operate within Google Workspace:

• mail.google.com & chat.google.com: These permissions are used exclusively to inject the sidebar user interface into your Gmail and Google Chat pages. We do not read, store, or transmit your private emails, chats, or contact lists.
• Storage: Used to save your local settings, such as theme preferences (Dark/Light mode).

3. Data Storage and Third Parties

Your story data (content and email identifier) is securely transmitted to and stored on our backend server hosted at pythonanywhere.com. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Data is only used to facilitate the display of stories to you and your organization.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

Stories are automatically deleted from our servers after their expiration period (typically 24 hours). If you wish to have your user data or active stories removed immediately, you may contact the administrator or simply uninstall the extension.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information during transmission and storage. All communications between the Extension and the backend API are encrypted via HTTPS.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
